As a mythology expert, I can tell you that Hercules, also known as Heracles in Greek mythology, was cursed by his wife Deianira. However, the curse was indirectly caused by the centaur Nessus, who was actually the one who gave Deianira the potion that led to Hercules' torment.

Here's the story: Hercules was required to complete twelve labors as penance for a crime he committed under a curse that caused him to go mad and kill his wife and children. After completing the second labor, which involved killing the hydra, he was given a task by Nessus, a centaur, to carry Deianira across a river. Nessus attempted to rape Deianira while Hercules was away, and Hercules shot him with a poisoned arrow. Before dying, Nessus gave Deianira a potion that he claimed would keep Hercules faithful to her forever. Deianira, believing the potion to be a love charm, later applied it to Hercules' shirt when she feared he was unfaithful. The potion turned out to be a deadly poison that caused unbearable pain and torment to Hercules, leading to his eventual self-immolation on a funeral pyre.

So, while Deianira applied the curse, it was Nessus who was the architect of the curse that afflicted Hercules.
