As an expert in planetary science, I can tell you that the atmosphere on Mercury is extremely thin, to the point of being nearly a vacuum. This is due to the planet's weak gravitational pull and its proximity to the Sun, which causes the atmosphere to evaporate. The trace amounts of gases that are present, such as sodium, hydrogen, helium, and oxygen, are not sufficient to support human life. Moreover, the surface temperature on Mercury is extreme, varying from extremely hot during the day to extremely cold at night, which would make it unsuitable for human survival without proper protective gear.

Mercury is not a planet that would be easy to survive on but it may not be impossible. It is worth noting that without a space suit you would not survive very long at all, due to a lack of atmosphere. On top of this Mercury has one of the largest changes in temperature in the Solar System.
